THE HISTORY

Galleria del sale

Contemporary art
transforms urban space

Founded in 2014, Galleria del Sale is the open-air contemporary art gallery of the city of Cagliari.

Located along the cycling and pedestrian path connecting the Molentargius Park to the Nervi Pavilion, it has contributed to rewriting a marginal area of the city, a free zone between neighborhoods.

From the first 14 interventions in its first year, over 70 works have been created, including murals, graffiti, posters, sculptures, and material installations.

THE OBJECTIVE

Art and nature in dialogue

A bridge between artistic expression and urban enhancement

From the very beginning, the goal has been to create a unique cultural offering in a peripheral space, capable of integrating the naturalistic aspects of the location with the expressive potential of the artists, in a perspective of urban enhancement.

Important local, national, and international muralists and artists have worked at Galleria del Sale, many hired by the project’s activities, while others, recognizing the purpose of the space, have operated autonomously and illegally, expanding the creative offerings of the path.

Over the years, Galleria del Sale has not only become part of the collective imagination of the city, but it has also been embraced as a model by several national associations, attracting the interest of prominent figures in the global street art scene.
